One day I learned from Farid that the next day was Constance?s birthday and we should go look for a gift. I told him, I would like to paint Constance?s portrait and give it to him as our gift, for a surprise. Farid had a black and white photograph of him. I had to turn it into color. I created an oil-on-canvass portrait that came out to be very alive. I think he came to like it so much that he asked me to also paint a portrait of his wife, Nessie. (pp 1-2)

Yak,
Like they say, be careful what you ask, you might get it. As Marilyn Monroe used to sing, "if you get what you want, you won't want what you get." Now you get all 328 pages of what you might not want.

I grew up hearing lots of different stories about the man in the picture. It is great to finally hear from the man himself. Well done Uncle Jun!

Many people had suggested that the portrait looks more alive than my actual self. In my defense, I had retorted that the portraiit had the benefit of the artist's knowledge of the character behind the face.
